Christine East has been a photographer for many years and has a strong passion for underwater photography. Born in Hertfordshire, England, Christine has always been drawn to the sea. At age nine she crossed the Atlantic by ship and remembers the joy of seeing whales, dolphins and icebergs for the very first time. It was on this trip that she got her first camera, a Kodak, point and shoot film camera.
Christine studied photography at Barnfield College in Bedfordshire and was awarded a distinction for her project on photo-microscopy. She continued to self study, in particular methods to photograph what the eye cannot normally see including techniques for visualizing sound and energy through photography, and working with different ends of the light spectrum. Her inspiration to take her photographic creativity underwater came after watching the movie "Big Blue", and she completed her dive training in Fleetwood, England. After becoming a SCUBA Instructor, Christine worked for renowned underwater photographer Cathy Church in the Cayman Islands. She taught underwater photography and set the foundation for her professional career. She was then hired by the Aggressor Fleet of liveaboard dive boats as a professional underwater photographer.
After a year she moved to Bermuda and joined the yacht "Bermuda IV" as a professional photographer and Dive Operations Manager. Bermuda allowed Christine's creativity to flourish, providing a diverse backdrop to some of her more creative photographs, including wrecks and super macro photography.
She is currently working on a book of macro photography and a gallery exhibition of her work in Bermuda.
